Riteish - "I am glad masses are loving 'Double Dhamaal'"

In the times when some of the most talked about films struggled to find much attention coming their way, ''Double Dhamaal'' is now in a comfortable situation. The film has not just opened very well and is now boasting of first day''s collections that are next only to ''Ready'', it is also finding patronage amongst the masses. No wonder, Riteish Deshmukh is ecstatic with the film''s success. Talking from Toronto where he is hosting IIFA awards, Riteish shares his excitement over the film...

After 'Housefull', this is yet another biggie for you that has opened so well. Happy with the way things are going?
Of course, the response has been very positive and I can see that first hand with people posting heartening things about the film on Twitter. Thankfully we have started on a positive note. Now we have to see how far do we go from here.
I guess it's the promo that did the trick which managed to make an instant impression.
The way promo was cut, it led the industry as well as trade to sound quite positive as well. I am glad that this happened; after all the first impression is the last impression. We worked hard on the promo. So many times it has been seen that when the First Look doesn't work, it becomes very difficult to revive the film.
'Dhamaal' had created a record for itself as it was the first ever film in decades to have boasted of an all men cast. Despite you, Arshad, Javed and Ashish in principal roles, there was no place for women in the film. Now in the sequel, Sanjay Dutt
See, Sanjay is rich in the film and is enjoying all the luxuries of life. So while he has Mallika as his girlfriend, Kangna has stepped in his sister. But still, eventually it all about their trio versus our quartet that takes each other heads on in this sequel.
Yet again you go home without a leading lady despite Mallika and Kangna in 'Double Dhamaal'. Missing out on all the 'dhamaal'?
So what if none of us has any romantic angle with any of these two hot and great looking females; after all us boys are together. We are happy to be in love with each other (laughs). Even in F.A.L.T.U. Arshad and I were shown as thick friends and didn't have any leading lady opposite them. We are used to managing our lives without women.
With such huge cast and canvas, it is obvious that 'Double Dhamaal' was always meant to be a much bigger affair.
Whether in terms of scale, sets, music, jokes or the overall glamour quotient, everything has been worked upon all over again. We aren't merely relying upon the fact that we have a successful franchise in hand. Also, with Kangna and Mallika joining us, the glamour quotient has been taken care of as well. We all are quite glad that the film has turned out to be so well and is now being loved by the masses.

Nothing is Original; Actors don't have fun in doing love scenes - Mohit Suri

''Murder 2'' is getting hotter day by day. Sources claim it to be bolder then its prequel ''Murder''. IG caught with the director Mohit Suri who spoke at length about his upcoming erotic thriller....

Why the sequel Murder 2?
It's not a sequel. It's a completely new story altogether. When Shagufta (Writer) and I went to the Bhatt sir with the story, he suggested that the murder brand will suit better as the script falls in the same erotic thriller genre.
It's a brand murder and people think it is a sequel so how you differentiate?
We didn't cast Mallika Sherawat, it's more of a series than a sequel.
Was Jacqueline the first choice
Yes she was. Unlike Murder 1 which is the story of the middle aged married women who has a kid, this involves a girl younger than Mallika, so Jacqueline was the first choice obviously.
So you don't find Mallika hot?
I never met her and I found Jacqueline hotter than Mallika.
So how was the experience working with the hot Jacqueline?
It was fun. She has the ability to look stunning and is hard worker. She is someone who gives in a lot of efforts. Contrary to the common belief, she didn't had any language issue and surprisingly she is the one who remembers the dialogues of almost everyone.
Was there any pressure on you while making the film?
Pressure is always there when you make a film. I remember when I made my first film 'Zeher' at the age of 22 people use to pressurize me by saying that this is a very early age to direct a film.

At the time of 'Kalyug' when I launched my sister, there was pressure. And at the time of 'Woh Lamhe' there was pressure as I was making a film on Parveen Babi. But for this sequel there was no pressure as such.
Murder 1 is directed by someone else, was there any pressure directing under the same brand?
Just because someone else directed the first part that doesn't bog you down and pressure help me to perform better and give the best product.
Your films portray Emraan in a different way; tell us about his looks in 'Murder 2'.
Emraans character has a blue shade. He deals with mafia, drug trafficking, has a tattooed falling angel in his arm and does anything for money.
You have worked with Emraan what are his strength and weakness as an actor?
Basic thing is that we both are cousins and we started working for this company together so the advantage is that our sensibilities matched and the weakness is that we know each other very well. I don't have to walk towards him to make his understand any small things and he just gets it.
Was it easier for you to shoot love making scenes as Emraan was your actor?
Love making scene is the toughest, please understand. It is the only thing that the director cannot explain and the actor has to do by his own. It's not like the actors are having fun. It's not the way as it is in real life.
Is making grim, thriller movies is your comfort zone, you love horrors
Emraan and I loved horrors since childhood. During summer holidays, we used to shut all the windows and watch a horror film and scare each other all day. Plus all the horror film used to be for adult viewing so there was a thrill attached to it by watching it without letting anyone else know. At one time I thought Emraan was alien from Omen (Film) and checked his head for the mark also....

Coming to the comfort zone then I would say I am a film maker and I liked to make film for the young audience who love to get thrilled in the theatre.
Your favorite in horror genre.
The Omen.

"Chillar Party is a film for Salman and his people (biradari)" - Vikas Bahl, Nitesh Tiwari

UTV Spot Boy next ''Chillar Party'' is in news for various reasons. First of all its the maiden venture for B-town ''Dabangg'' Khan Salman Khans production house SKBH (Salman Khan Being Human), where Ranbir Item number is gaining popularity day by day. Second its promos are quite interesting. Third, the movie has already received pats from B-town recognized talents like Raju Hirani and Imtiaz Ali to name a few. Here the writer directors of this film Vikas Bahl and Nitesh Tiwari who are from the production and advertising backgrounds respectively speak from their heart regarding their maiden venture....

It's a kid flick or a flick where message comes from kids?
It's not a kid flick. Its a film with kids, its about friendship togetherness, life, fun, an enjoyable film which speaks from heart about friendship, childhood days which are heroic, fearless. It's a film where kids will have a great time; parents will have a great time. And it carries a small message.
What's the message?
For that you will have to watch the film....
How different it is from Taare Zameen Par, Stanley Ka Dabba' or any other kid flick?
Taare Zameen Par was not a kid flick. Boothnath was a kid flick. Taare Zammen Par was targeted towards parents. It was for adults. Ours is more like Mr. India. that's probably the film which is close to our Chillar Party.
How?
Chillar Party is about loyalty, friendship and in Salman words a movie for the biradari (people). The name comes from chillar which means loose change. Normally we don't pay much attention to them but they turned out to be really handy during your bad times.
The promos show them fighting for a cause what is it?
They are fighting for friendship. They can go at any length to save their friendship.
Using tapori language as seen in the promos...
Not at all. The tapori language you see in promo is only some small part. The whole movie as we said earlier is about friendship, togetherness, loyalty. The kids and the adults both can expect good time watching 'Chillar Party'.
It's been said that telling a story through a child eyes makes the job easier for the maker what your say
Would like to meet the person who said this...
Its an observation by experts who give examples of master makers like Majid Majidi who tells his story from a child eye...
If the innocence comes through those eyes then the result becomes more endearing. It can go horribly wrong also if it that doesnt happen.
So how confident are you?
We are not confident we are nervous...
You are receiving praises from the fraternity, Salim Sahab even gifted his Zanjeer trophy
Extremely glad to know that the fraternity has loved the film. Raju Hirani loved it. Imtiaz Ali has liked the film. Salim Sir, gave us his Zanjeer trophy and made us so proud. Lets see how it comes up with the audience with those expectations.
What are you planning to do with the trophy?
Will store it and keep it secure. It's a price possession.
You guys believe in awards...
Right from school days we liked to get appreciated and when seniors from the fraternity appreciate your work genuinely then it motivates you to do more good work.
Did you struggle to find a producer?
UTV backed us from day one so we didn't had to struggle to get the producer.
How did Salman Khan made his entry?
Salman saw the film and he felt that its in the spirit of his foundation 'Being Human' and wanted to be part. So he came on board as the producer.
Did Salman asked for changes?
Salman didn't offer any changes. Even when Salim sir saw the film we asked him again and again but he advised us not to do any changes.
You both are writers and directors of this film who is more of a writer or director
We both are 50:50. Yes the work got divided while making but it never happened that whatever we had in our minds was rejected.
How was the experience shooting with the kids?
Around 8000 came for auditions and we had a good casting director Chawla who handled it well. It was a task where 8000 kids are trying to impress you by doing different things. We had our script and characters ready. We tried them only after having short listed them. We used to plan our shoots, do our home work made the kids friendly with the camera initially, it wasn't that difficult.
How many have faced the camera before?
Mostly are first timers.
Next what?
Things are cropping up in our mind let's see where it goes. Eagerly waiting for the audience response.
All the very best
Thanks a lot.

'Murder 2' is totally different, next is 'Raaz 3' - Shagufta Rafi

Singer turned writer Shagufta Rafi says ''Murder 2'' is different from ''Murder 1'' and the Nithari case is mixed with the plot. IG caught with the writer who spoke about ''Murder 2'', her association with the Bhatt camp and more....

You have written your real life experience in this film.
When I was singer in the bar and went to abroad for a performance. There was this dancer who was also indulged in prostitution due to her needs. Our person came to her and said there is a client who wants to see her and wants to spend night with her.

Her age was hardly 20, she went and when she came back she was black and blue. I asked her what happened then she told about the incident that the person who took her had booms, belts and chains in his basement. He beats women before he sleeps with them. Surprisingly that guy was from Bombay. So it's a nightmare for women who indulges in prostitution but get trapped in dangerous situation like this. While writing the story this incident was there in my head then the Nithari things come up.
You incorporated the incident in the film.
Yes it is there in the film. It is not exactly the Jacqueline who is going through such torture but there are other victims who get tortured in the film.
How you avoided the prostitute trap as you were surrounded by them?
No I didnt indulge in such activities because in Muslim countries they don't force you. They leave it up to you. If you want to indulge they will not object but if you dont want then they will not push you. The Indian embassy is very strong there.
You have taken inspiration from Nithari case.
Nithari case happened recently 2-3 years ago so I have mixed both cases. The school girl, the prostitute who one night went to client thinking of normal client but actually he is not the man he is completely insane he beats them rape them and then kill them.
Right now you are working with any other project...
I have written Raaz 2 and now I'm writing Raaz 3.
Does Mahesh Bhatt interfere in the creative process?
Mahesh Bhatt does not interfere in the creative process. Once I am done I take it to him for the feedback. Mahesh sir ideology is that if I make changes there wont be any new thing then what the use of bringing writers from outside is.
How difficult is to write the sequel of super hits of Murder and Raaz?
The journer is totally different. It's not the sequel its totally different from murder1. You can see in the promos that it does not have any shades of murder1 as the content is different.
How far is your writing?
Well I was writing for Doordarshan. It was the times when satellite channels come up and when I went for apply as a writer they asked me whether I have written for xyz channel. And they didn't give me job for this reason for 4-5 years. So to support family I turned bar singer. I wasnt someone from bar I went there worked so that I can get money to struggle for my dreams. I was the writer then turned bar girl and then again writer.
When you were so good in singing then why didn't you tried to be a singer?
I could but my writing was doing so well.
Are you willing to write outside Bhatt champ?
Yaa I would like to. I mean I'm getting offers but the people who asked me to meet actually just wanted to see me that who is this bar dancer who is writing stories for "Bhatts". They really didn't want me to write so stopped meeting such people.
So Raaz 3 is your next project?
Yes I m writing for Vikram's Raaz 3 which is in 3D. it's is about a girl who experiences paranormal activities and then Emraan come to her rescue and the thing which was troubling her is the big Raaz in the film. In Raaz Jacqueline is finalized and there is another girl which needs to be bold. I personally will say that Mallika or Bipasha should do it.
Which else stories you has written which is yet to release?
'Informer which will be directed by Kunal Deshmukh. Earlier Sanjay Dutt was approached but now Randeep Huda will do the part.
Are you completely outsider to this industry?
My sister was actress from 60's named Fareeda Khan she did few films and got married to the director Balwit Sadana who shot her. So I am not completely an outsider.

Murder 2 is not a sequel but another level of Muder 1, so what is that level?

Murder 2 is a standalone product. This is the age of brand. People trust brands. Evidence from west has proved that it generate 40% of the business with the name itself. The already present product has enlightened the audience and has the impact. On the other hand new product takes time for consumer. Murder2 has the basic essence of Murder 1 - erotica and crime.
What is the plot of the film?
Murder 2 is about the relationship, journey of a man who is by choice a corrupt police officer. Now his life undergoes a change when he is given a task by a local pimp who runs a prostitution racket to find out the girl who is a victim of human trafficking. He goes to the depth of the case and what horror he makes up to is the story. It's a saga of a person who chooses to go to the wrong side of law being a police man and how he helps the local pimp in his business and mix various girls life and how he chooses the pleasure industry. It also deals with the pain behind the sex worker eyes and its looks at the contemporary Indian metro cities like Goa, Delhi which is a sex capital of the country. The dangerous situations where the sex workers are exposed.
Murder 2 deals with the human trafficking...
Yes, the writer (Shagufta) of the film also brought into the light the theme prostitution in the country. As India is opened the door to global economy and almost become a global culture. The aspiration of getting rich or getting all the luxury so the young generation they don't mind selling themselves to men.
Your personal experience with police helped you in enhancing the lead actor who plays a police man....
Police is a part of our society. We have seen both the side of the police. As we have seen them from very near their colour usually comes in our cinema. While writing the script I made my writers to meet the officer as their experience is very refreshing and first hand information gives a such a colour that we can't get it from old films.
So in what way you have portrayed the police in the film
Murder 2 is also the apathy of police force towards the higher/rich class and towards common person. The apathy of the police force is monumental. The Nithari case becomes so famous because the people went to the local police but nobody care about the poor man, child or daughter disappearing. So it took a huge tragedy to take the nation that how insensitive is the nation, police force, and the media towards the problem of the poor.
Was Jacqueline the first choice?
She was the first and the last choice because there is no way to take Mallika as it's not the extension of Murder 1. Unlike Murder 1 which was the point of view from women this is a man view and the story moves out of the home.
The promo is quite horrifying... Is Emraan having duel personality in it?
Emraan has given very matured performance and this is true that he has two personality the soft side and the violent side. Emraan is playing a greedy man. We have created a monster in the film.
What is this monster is like?
As said by Hollywood filmmaker whenever you market a film show the sizzle but not the steak, keep the steak as the main dish to consume at Friday (Judgment day). So far you have seen the reaction to the monster but not the monster. In Murder 2 the monster is created which is inspired from the Nithari case. The person who looks like you, talks like you, behaves like you but he brings women or prostitutes lock them and later kill them. The house became like a graveyard. The writer of the film Shagufta said me "let me visit that mind".
Is Emraan is playing the monster?
Emraan is a hero in the film. The monster character is played by Prashant. The character of Maharani of the film Sadak which is played by Sadashiv Amrapurkar is recreated. But the character Maharani had good shades but this is a complete monster.
What is the basic idea of portraying the lead actor with lots of sex appeal?
The idea is to make Indian cinema sex free. As the Indian film maker feel very ashamed while portraying sex on screen. In old time sex thing was done by only vamps and the lead actress used to just visit temples wear salwar kameez. So somewhere the thinking of 2 types of women are present. From that time till today the Indian cinema has taken a long journey and the changing time has contributed a lot. Now the people frequency is parallel to the world frequency. The shy attitude toward sex is also changed. In our earlier films we have noticed that the so-called purist people who scream that's their part of job but audience go and watch my films. Women have changed in the country. When I went to see Jism in Delhi I have seen the audience was women who was from the rich family, they were unashamed, unembarrassed so India is changing.
How is the chemistry of Emraan and Jacqueline as you cast them in your next film too?
Jacqueline is very easy with herself. The modern Indian actor I mean she is Sri Lankan but south Asian. She is very easy with her body like Bipasha and Mallika. Still when they did the sex scene they were called bold, means it's not allowed but they attempt it but Jacqueline she does it easily means she is not conscious for being bold.
Jacqueline is not taking active participation in the promotion...
She is a very nice girl. For this reason my production house has to be blamed. They didn't co-ordinated with her as now she is busy doing shoot for other film in London
What inspires you to do work on such unique subjects?
It's our writer who brings the taste of life to our office. We are open to new people and talent and we maximum works with new people. Whenever we have presented anything bold we have faced opposition but we stood and whenever we have made film with courage it has succeed.

Rohit Shetty - Out 200 films every year, 10 succeed & they are either remakes or for that matter seq

Rohit Shetty - Out 200 films every year, 10 succeed & they are either remakes or for that matter seq
Saturday, July 16, 2011

Says Rohit Shetty, the director, who is known for his flair for comedy, tells IndiaGlitz that he is ecstatic to return to an action-packed film after a long time, with ''Singham''.

How would you describe your film Singham?
I'd say unabashedly that Singham is an action packed entertainer of the year starring Ajay Devgn and Kajal Aggarwal. As you know, Singham is a Hindi remake of the Tamil Blockbuster film called 'Singham'. As a director, I enjoy making a film, whether it is a comedy film or for that matter, an action film.

There is humor in Singham though you cannot call it a comedy. Even when I set out to make the Golmaal series, we did not know that the series will turn out to be a big hit.
It is for the first time that you have set out to do a remake.
It is only now when there is media explosion that people come to know that remakes are being made. It isn't something that is new. Nagarjun had made the remake of Phool Aur Kaante and Chiranjeevi had made the remake of Munnabhai MBBS...
What new dimensions you have added to Ajay's most loved avatar in Singham?
Ajay Devgn will be seen in a beefed up avatar in Singham. He had gone through a special training to get in shape for the role of Inspector Bajirao Singham, an honest cop, who is diligent and honoured and fights against injustice and prejudice using his own ethics and principles, in the backdrop of Shivgad, a small village in the border of Maharashtra and Goa. Singham is about his tryst with Rakesh Kadam's family that makes him realize the importance to bring a change in the system by eradicating the root cause Jaykant Shikre, by not going against the law of force but by being a powerful part of it.
How is Ajay as a producer?
Ajay is one of the finest actors we have in Bollywood, who has to his credit two National Awards for Zakham and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Ajay is not only a great actor and director, but also a fabulous producer, who does not interfere at all with his director, since he has this open door policy, where every one in the unit, right from the spot boy to the director chips in with his or her own ideas, though he leaves the director the freedom to implement whatever idea her wants to incorporate in his film.
In action flicks villain plays an important role, what challenge does Prakash Raj gives to Ajay in the film?
Prakash Raj plays a tremendously powerful criminal cum politician Jaykant Shikre who challenges Singham's morals and beliefs. A sudden strike of destiny pits Singham against the Jaykant's powerful planning and force makes Singham land up in the ruling city of Jaykant Shikre, the city of 'Goa', where he leaves no stone unturned to make Singham's life a nightmare to live.
How did you zero in on Kajal Agarwal to play the lead opposite Ajay?
I needed an actress to play Singham's supportive girlfriend Kavya. Southern beauty Kajal Agarwal is debuting in Bollywood with Singham. She has a body of work down South out of which her Telugu film 'Magadheera' has been her biggest commercial success. Ajay and I felt that it is better that we cast an actress who is experienced but at the same time not exposed in Bollywood and hence we cast Kajal.
Do you think remakes are safe bets today in the industry?
I was lucky that our Golmaal series clicked at the box office, though it is very difficult to predict what the audience will like these days. No one wants to make a flop. If, out of the 200 films that are being made in Bollywood every year, only 10 succeed and they are either remakes or for that matter sequels, I feel it is a safe bet to make a remake or a sequel.
When are you launching Golmaal 4?
I think we should give a gap of at least two years before we come up with a sequel, like we had a gap between the releases of the earlier series of Golmaal.
Did you ever plan to take up acting too, like your late father Shettysaab?
I know that in front of the camera I will be a bad and pathetic actor and hence I will never try my hand at acting at all and just concentrate on direction.
Have you thought in terms of casing Ajay and Kajol together in a film of yours?
If I get the right script that would do justice to both of them, I am game to cast Ajay and Kajol together in my film.

Full Faith in Salman & in 'Bodyguard' - Siddique

Full Faith in Salman & in 'Bodyguard' - Siddique
[Interview by Vishal Verma]
Wednesday, August 24, 2011

The award winning cult south Indian filmmaker Siddique who is making his debut in Bollywood with the most happening Khan Salman Khan is a soft spoken, down to earth person who has the unique distinction of making the same film thrice, in three different languages, speaks exclusively on his dream Bollywood debut, what makes ''''Bodyguard'''' so special, the extremely lovable Salman, his favourite Bollywood flick which he might remake and much more...

A warm welcome to Bollywood....
Thank You<
What's so unique and special about 'Bodyguard' that you are equally excited to do it again and again?
'Bodyguard' is a universal subject. People understand the language of entertainment. Whether it's Hindi, Tamil or Malayalam.
What care have you taken for the Bollywood version?
Of course, the Hindi remake is very different from the other two films. This is the third time I'm making 'Bodyguard'. In Malayalam, it was a super hit. The Tamil version starring Vijay and Asin also was a blockbuster. In Malayalam, actor Dilip plays a guy next door. In Tamil, Vijay play a macho character while maintaining his lover boy image. Both were also students in the college. But in the Hindi version, we have made significant changes without touching the soul of the film keeping in mind the image of superstar Salman Khan. Here Salman is hired as a Bodyguard in the film to Kareena who is a post graduate student. It's an action packed love story.
What new dimensions you have added to Salman Khan in the film; he is fabulous in the action cuts shown in the promos?
Like the trend that started with 'Wanted', in 'Bodyguard' also Salman has not used body doubles and done those action scenes and its better. Thanks to action director Vijayan Master who has worked well with Salman and given those great action shots.
The story behind Salman saying yes to Bodyguard...
It happened during 'Dabangg' time. One of our common friends Nirupama was the link. A screening was arranged. Salman saw the film and immediately agreed.
Why the delay in entering Bollywood?
I was getting offers and I needed something universal to make my debut in Bollywood. 'Bodyguard' gave me the opportunity, I'm happy that a superstar like Salman agreed to do the film. As a director I am a newcomer in Bollywood.
Salman as an actor and as a person
Salman is an actor who gets very involved with the character. The innocence in him was the key ingredient required for his character in 'Bodyguard' and he has done full justice. He is not only a good actor but a good human being also. During the shoot I never felt that am working with a superstar. Very involved focused and keen in his work; no ego.
Kareena... Whose choice? Your? Salman?
Kareena was a joint decision between Salman and me. Kareena is perfect combo of good looks and talent. She is calm controlled has her unique style and individuality which she brings it in her role.
Any unforgettable moment during the shoot of bodyguard which you would like to share?
I have enjoyed shooting every moment of 'Bodyguard' with Salman and Kareena. Can't tell you one single moment. The entire journey has been such a delightful experience.
Why not the fourth installment then?
I've made the film thrice; another time would be an overkill for me! Plus, after working in Bollywood, where the canvas is so huge, I don't want to come down to a level where I'm restricted due to budget and other constrains. They have found a new filmmaker and I'm sure he will do justice to the movie.
Which Bollywood flick would you like to remake?
You cannot repeat the brilliance created in the original if you are doing a remake. For me if I am going to remake a movie, I will have to make sure that I make it better than the original otherwise it's not worth and for that you need tremendous expertise.
Any movie in mind?
Don't know when but would like to do 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Jab We Met'...
What's your gut feeling for 'Bodyguard'? How confident you are?
I'm confident, not overconfident. I have full faith in Salman Khan and the language of entertainment in 'Bodyguard'.
All the very best
Thank you so much.

Trace Cyrus and Brenda Song to be parents

Quote:
Brenda's got a baby! And no, we're not singing a Tupac Shakur song...
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody actress is about to enter the sweet life of motherhood. A source confirmed to E! News that Brenda Song is pregnant with her first child, and Miley Cyrus' brother Trace Cyrus is the father!
Seriously?

Yeah, a source confirmed the news, which Celebuzz first reported.
Miley's bro—who, ironically, used to bag on Disney kids—and Song are brewin' up a little half-Disney, half-tattooed rock star baby. Funny how things happen.

The couple modeled the latest threads for Trace's Southern Made Hollywood Paid clothing line, and made their first red carpet appearance together at Nylon's party in May 2010.

As far as previous lovers, Trace was once tied to a Twitter romance with Demi Lovato. Song, on the other hand, has kept her romantic life on the down low.

By the way, if you haven't caught on yet...Miley's gonna be an auntie!

Don't Ever buy Madonna hydrangeas

At the start of the Venice Film Festival press conference for Madonna's movie W.E., Madonna gets handed a hydrangea by a fan. Unfortunately for the fan, Madge loathes hydrangeas.

Don't buy Madonna hydrangeas – The Marquee Blog - CNN.com Blogs

Quote:
Smiling, she accepted the flowers, telling the fan, “Thank you, thank you.” Then Madge stowed the purple blossoms and turned to the woman sitting next to her (just off camera) to vent about the horrible offense.

"I absolutely loathe hydrangeas,” she says in what sounds like a British accent. “He obviously doesn't know that." So do we believe Madonna hates hydrangeas that much, or are our legs being pulled? Apparently, she's really not a fan. Madonna's rep tells CNN: “She’s entitled to like any flower she wants and she didn’t want to hurt the feeling of the hydrangeas of the world...No disrespect to the hydrangeas lovers of the world but she prefers different types of flowers.”

But hey, maybe she was just cranky about the reviews for “W. E.”
Luckily, Madonna hasn’t quit her day job – she told reporters in Venice that her upcoming album should be out this spring, according to Billboard.

"I've started a little bit of work in the studio," she said in an interview with Swedish Sveriges Television.

Brad Pitt Talks Jen Aniston Marriage, Angelina Jolie Bliss

Brad Pitt Talks Aniston Marriage, Jolie Bliss

At 47, Brad Pitt is still a heartthrob, but he's also a family man. (He and Angelina Jolie have six kids!) In an interview featured in this Sunday's Parade magazine, the "Moneyball" star opens up about the rather boring life he was living prior to falling in love with Angelina, and why he's now a "satisfied man."

On his uninteresting existence with Jennifer Aniston : "I spent the '90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to actress Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."

On Angelina: "One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I'm so happy to have her."

On being subject to fabrications about his personal life: "I mean, how many stories have you read that aren't true, stories about me and Angie being married or fighting or splitting up? And when we don't split up, there's a whole new round that we've made up and we're back together again! We'll get married when everyone can. We're not splitting up. And we don't have a seventh child yet."

On being a "satisfied man": "I put much more emphasis on being a satisfied man. I'm satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss. That's the trade-off. But I'll take it all."

On learning to be a parent: "I was surprised at how automatic it is, how much of it is instinctual. And now I have a great confidence and trust in those instincts. I mean, one sound at night and you're awake and up because they may need you. Or when they start to have a tantrum, you know to divert them from spinning out by helping them focus on something. It just goes on and on. I tell them, 'You can make a mess, but you've got to clean it up.'"

Be sure to check out this weekend's issue of Parade magazine in your local newspaper for the full interview. Pitt, whose new movie "Moneyball" opens September 23, also discusses why he adopted foreign-born children, lessons he learned from his father, and how he got that scar on his cheekbone.

Mila Kunis is the latest celebrity whose cell phone has been hacked, and the hacker is leaking several pictures of a seductive Justin Timberlake ... TMZ has learned.

Four pictures have been leaked, including two which show Justin -- one, laying shirtless in a bed, and another in which J.T. is jokingly sporting a pair of pink panties over his head. Kunis is not featured in either of the pics.

There's another photo of Mila in a bathtub, but all you see is her head. And then there's another photo of a male which is explicit in nature, although his identity is a mystery.

There are also some texts and the hacker claims they reveal exchanges between Justin and Mila.

As we first reported, we're told Scarlett Johansson is going to the FBI today after nude photos of her that were hacked from her cell phone were published this morning.

Singer Gavin DeGraw Hospitalized After Assault

Gavin DeGraw Hospitalized After Assault

Singer Gavin DeGraw was assaulted early Monday in New York City and taken by ambulance to the emergency room.

DeGraw, 34, whose hits include "I Don't Want to Be" and "Not Over You," was in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital and believed to have a broken nose and cuts to his face, police tell PEOPLE.

The assault took place in the East Village at about 4:30 a.m., say police, adding that the singer was alone at the time of the incident. He was transported to Bellevue after someone called 911 to report a male needing assistance at the corner of 1st Ave. and 19th St. in Manhattan.

The 911 caller said there was a man with blood on his shirt who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, police say.

DeGraw's reps said in a statement: "Gavin DeGraw was assaulted ... and was taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation. We have no additional information at this time."

DeGraw has a new album due out next month and has been on tour with Train and Maroon 5.

WTF?! Benicio del Toro impregnated Kimberly Stewart, his rep confirms

Benicio del Toro impregnated Kimberly Stewart, his rep confirms

This news has just blown my mind: according to Life & Style, Kimberly Stewart is pregnant… with Benicio del Toro’s baby. Like… how did that happen? Did you know that Kimberly and Benicio were “dating” at any point? Or was this just a one night stand? Why did Benicio even deign to get with that? Surely he has better options. Not that I’m trying to be really nasty about it, but… it’s Kimberly Stewart. Benicio has better options. The end.
Life & Style can confirm exclusively that Kimberly Stewart, the daughter of rocker Rod Stewart, is pregnant with actor Benicio del Toro’s baby, a rep for Benicio confirms.

“Kimberly is pregnant. Benicio is the father and is very supportive,” Benicio’s rep, Robin Baum, tells Life & Style exclusively. “Although they are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby.”

Benicio, 44, is best known for winning an Academy Award for his role in Traffic in 2001. Kimberly was most recently linked to actors Jude Law and Rhys Ifans, and in 2005 Kimberly was engaged to then-Laguna Beach star Talan Torriero, who was seven years younger than her.
[From Life & Style]

“Although they are not a couple” = One night stand that lead to pregnancy, and Benicio still isn’t quite sure the baby is his. That’s how I’m reading it. But I appreciate that Benicio isn’t doing the Ryan Phillippe thing and making a big stink about paternity - even if there are questions about paternity, bringing that junk up in public is tacky, in my opinion. So for now Benicio is going to stick with Kimberly (sort of) and then there will be a quiet paternity test once the baby is born.

Ugh, Kimberly Stewart. That chick who is famous for being Rod Stewart’s worthless, vapid daughter. Benicio could do so much better for a baby-mama-drama scandal. Oh, I just remembered - she was dating Rhys Ifans for a short time, right after Sienna Miller dumped him. Ugh.

Default Daughter To Show Joan Crawford’s Naked Home Videos

Daughter To Show Joan Crawford’s Naked Home Videos

Not content with simply making her mother's name synonymous with bad parenting, Christina Crawford is developing a one-woman show in which she she'll share new details about her family — including never-before-seen home videos of a nude Joan Crawford. The play, which is titled Surviving Mommie Dearest, is based on her books Mommie Dearest and Survivor and Christina says it will offer "a much more complete story."

As for the videos, Christina says she's shocked her mother never destroyed them. She adds:
"I never knew that they existed before a year ago and never saw them before a month ago ... I remembered her telling me about her married lover, Charles McCabe; however, I never saw photos of him till the home movies, when they were hunting, fishing and canoeing in the Poconos."
... while naked, apparently.

White House crasher Michaele Salahi is 'missing'. Uh huh, right.

"Real Housewives of D.C." star Tareq Salahi believes his wife Michaele Salahi was abducted in Virginia yesterday ... but he's afraid the cops aren't taking the situation seriously ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ just spoke with Tareq ... who tells us he last saw Michaele at their home around 11 AM ET yesterday ... right before he left to go to their winery. Tareq says Michaele told him she was going to get her hair done -- but she never went to the appointment ... and she's been missing ever since.

Tareq claims he got a phone call from Michaele late last night ... from an unfamiliar Oregon cell phone number ... and she told him she was going to her mother's house, located minutes away from the Salahi home.

Tareq says he was suspicious -- so he called Michaele's mother ... who told him she hadn't spoken with Michaele and was unaware of her plans. That's when Tareq -- fearing Michaele had been abducted -- called the Warren County Sheriff's Dept. for help.

But Tareq claims deputies told him she had already called them -- informing them she was OK and just dealing with some "family issues."

Tareq tells TMZ ... he believes Michaele had been FORCED to make the phone calls by her abductor ... and believes she is in very real danger ... especially because the Salahis have received death threats in the past.

Tareq says he's considering going to other law enforcement for help because he feels the Warren County Sheriffs are not taking proper action. A rep for the WCSD tells TMZ cops are not releasing any info about the situation at this time.

Tareq has issued a statement saying, "We are reaching to the public pleaing [sic] desperately for your help."

He continues, "It is our belief as of last night, that Michaele Salahi may have been kidnapped or abducted and being held under duress and forced to tell persons, including authorities she is okay."

"We are asking the public to please be on the look out for her, and if found please contact the authorities and please approach her and contact the authorities to intervene and that she may be forced to say she is okay, when in fact she is not and being held under possible abduction.

Default Anderson Cooper, Gloria Vanderbilt Address Carter Vanderbilt Cooper's Suicide

Anderson Cooper, Gloria Vanderbilt Address Carter Vanderbilt Cooper's Suicide

It's been more than two decades since Anderson Cooper's brother Carter Vanderbilt Cooper flung himself from the 14th-floor terrace of his family's NYC penthouse apartment.

In a rare interview, Anderson, 44, sat down with his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt, and recalls that tragic day in 1988 when Carter, then 23, took his own life.

"When he went … I thought he was going to come back, but he didn't," Vanderbilt, 87, remembers in the one-on-one conversation that airs Monday on Anderson's syndicated talk show. "He let go, and there was a moment when I thought I was going to jump over after him."

But the former fashion designer says Anderson, who was 21 at the time, gave her a reason to continue living.

"I thought of you and it stopped me from [jumping]," Vanderbilt tells her son, whose eyes brim with tears.

Although it is rare to hear Anderson or his mom speak publicly about their family tragedy, Vanderbilt wrote a book in 1997 called A Mother's Story, in which she discusses the medicine allergy she believes caused her son to make the spontaneous decision to kill himself.

"The fatal loss stripped me bare," Vanderbilt says in the book of losing Carter, a seemingly confident Princeton graduate.

Although Vanderbilt tells Anderson, "You never get over it, but you learn to live with it," the talk show host and CNN correspondent uses the heartbreaking experience as just one more reason to see his mom as an inspiration.

"You have survived so many things," Anderson says. "This custody battle when you were 10 years old, the loss of your father when you were an infant, the loss of Carter, of my dad, your husband and so many others."

"It hasn't made you tough," he continues. "It hasn't hardened you. You're still open to experience and open to new loss and open to new heartbreak and to new love."

Full Faith in Salman & in 'Bodyguard' - Siddique

Interview by Vishal Verma]

Bono thinks U2 is "irrelevant" and can't stand hearing himself talk

TORONTO — A pensive Bono fretted that U2 is on the "edge of irrelevance" during a news conference this afternoon at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The band is in town for the premiere of the new documentary, "From the Sky Down."

Directed by Davis Guggenheim, the film looks at U2 at a time when the band was at a creative crossroads before the release of 1991's "Achtung Baby."

Bono says that he thinks the band is in a similar place now, where they will have to push themselves in order to survive.

The rockers also paid respect to a number of Canadian artists, name-dropping the Band, Arcade Fire and Neil Young, whom Bono called a "sacred talent."

And Bono says that he didn't enjoy seeing the film the first two times he screened it, mainly because he can't stand listening to himself talk.

Jacqueline Kennedy's private recordings released publically

Jackie Kennedy Tapes Reveal Her Love for JFK
By Tim Nudd

Wednesday September 14, 2011 08:15 AM EDT

Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy
Ed Clark/LIFE.com

She was one of the world's most beloved yet mysterious women. And as a young widow following her husband's murder in 1963, Jacqueline Kennedy largely kept quiet in her torrent of grief.

Until now.

Eight and a half hours of recordings of Mrs. Kennedy from seven interviews in 1964, four months after the president's Nov. 22, 1963, murder, are set to be released as an audio book Wednesday. In excerpts published in The New York Times, the former first lady holds forth on everything from the Cuban Missile Crisis to the world's great leaders of the time to her own husband – whom she idolized to the end.

"Once I asked him – I think this is rather touching – if he could have one wish, what would it be?" Kennedy, who was 34 at the time, says. "In other words, you know, looking back on his life, and he said, 'I wish I had more good times.' "

During the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962, she says she begged him not to send her away. "If anything happens, we're all going to stay right here with you," she says she told him. "I just want to be with you, and I want to die with you, and the children do, too – than live without you."

Elsewhere, she calls French president Charles DeGaulle an "egomaniac," the future prime minister of India Indira Gandhi "a real prune – bitter, kind of pushy, horrible woman," and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. a "phony" for being unfaithful to his wife (according to information provided by FBI director J. Edgar Hoover).

She mentions nothing about her own husband's infidelities. Instead, she speaks of his loyalty, sensitivity and courage. At one point, she refers to a "civilized side of Jack" and "sort of a crude side," but adds: "Not that Jack had the crude side." She casts herself as a traditional wife in a marriage that was "rather terribly Victorian or Asiatic." Her goal, she says, was to provide "a climate of affection and comfort and détente."

Mrs. Kennedy, who later married the Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, died in 1994 at age 64.

The interviews with the historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. were kept private by the Kennedy Library until this month. Audio and transcripts are being released today as a book titled Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy.

In the forward, former first daughter Caroline Kennedy says it is meant to coincide with the 50th anniversary of her father's presidency – and that the tapes show a different side of her mother.

People "don't always appreciate her intellectual curiosity," Caroline says, "her sense of the ridiculous, her sense of adventure, or her unerring sense of what was right."

Megan Fox: I'm too poor for kids

Megan Fox says that is not yet rich enough to start a family.

Megan Fox

The 25-year-old Transformers star married actor Brian Austin Green in Hawaii in June 2010.
And although the couple are happy and in love, she says that she is not going to become a mother until she is more financially stable.
Megan is already stepmother to Brian’s nine-year-old son Kassius from his relationship with ex Vanessa Marcil but has revealed that she is not ready to add to their family just yet.

“I absolutely want biological children,” Megan told The Hollywood Reporter.
“I’ve always wanted kids. It’s just about the timing. I have it in my mind about what amount of money I want in the bank so that I can protect that child’s future, and really protect it, so that kid never struggles.
“Once I feel safe with that, then I’ll have kids.”

Megan recently put weight back on after being criticised for being too skinny and says she did it by ending her Vegan diet.
“For a year and a half, until about four months ago, I followed a strict vegan diet based on raw fruits and vegetables,” she told Amica magazine. “No bread, no sugar and coffee. But I had lost too much weight. Now I eat a bit of everything.”

These Messes

There definitely is a more creative and wittier headline out there (and it isn't coming from me), but that's the first thing I said out loud when I brought up these gorgeous portraits from the gutter. Then I went to pee (which stung, by the way, and I blame these pictures), sat back down and thought the same thing again. I was about to type "Look At What The Cat Dragged In," but that would've been factually incorrect on every level. I know some dirty skanky alley cats who consider a pigeon's anus as a meal and even they wouldn't put their mouths on either one of these bumbling busted bitches. It's like Courtney Stodden took her Dorian Gray portrait out for a 40. You decide which is which.

If you were in the Meatpacking District in Manhattan last night and were wondering why flies riding roaches riding rats were galloping through the streets in hoards headed uptown, it's because the living embodiment of Grey Gardens for the crack whore set came out to party. Just a mess. Lindsay Lohan looks like she's a shot away from spiraling into a drunk coma right there on the street while dumb-eyed White Oprah is too blinded by the fame to care.

LiLo: Um. Mom? The tequila went straight to my legs and turned them into worms. I'm just going to go mimi times on these strange looking tiny grey pillows.
White Oprah: HOLD ON TO YOUR 8-BALLS, BOYS! BAM! YES! BOOM!
LiLo: No, seriously, why is that man in a black hood carrying a scythe winking at me?
White Oprah: THE NAAAAAAME ON EVERYBODY'S LIPS IS GONNA BE...WHITE OPRAH!
LiLo: Where am I? I see a bright light.
White Oprah: IT'S THE CAMERAS, BABY! FLASHING FOR ME...I MEAN...US. SPARKLE, KITTEN, SPARKLE!"

Seriously, White Oprah is Lucifer in Chinese Laundry heels.

That being said, White Oprah has never looked hotter. Well, her look is very "tired Regan-era call girl who got demoted to the morning shift but still shows up to the hotel bar at 8pm on Saturday night like she's prime shit."

And LiLo might look like she's about to pass out, but apparently she got some energy when she got inside the V Magazine party at The Boom Boom Room. This happened:

Beyonce made a huge announcement outside L.A.'s Nokia Theater at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards: She's pregnant!

The Grammy-winning superstar, 29, covered up her bod in a gorgeous, loose-fitting red gown by Lanvin -- and announced her huge news to photographers.

It will be the first child for the singer and Jay-Z, her husband of three years.

Indeed, the couple has had babies on the brain for a while. "I always said I would have a baby at 30," Beyonce teased on a June 27 appearance on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight. The "Best Thing I Never Had" singer turns 30 September 4.

She and rapper-mogul Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 41, tied the knot in NYC in April 2008.

""He is amazing," she gushed of her guy, adding that he was a "good man."

Clint Eastwood Breaks His Legendary Silence On The Issue Of Gay Marriage

FINALLY (served in a bowl of sarcasm)! Everybody who has been on the fence of gay marriage can hop off that fence and come to our fence (which looks like this and is way more fun) now that Clint Eastwood has said in so many words that he's all for gays marrying other gays. Clint, who just finished directing that J. Edgard Hoover biopic, tells GQ (via Reuters) that gay marriage haters should just go ahead and replace their "I Hate Gay Marriage" lawn sign with an "I Don't Give A Fuck" law sign.
"These people who are making a big deal about gay marriage? I don't give a fuck about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We're making a big deal out of things we shouldn't be making a deal out of ... Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want."
You know, Clint is 81 years old and people who are 81 years old don't give a fuck about much. When you reach the canned peaches for dessert phase of your life, you pretty much retire from giving a fuck. Let's try out my theory by using canned peaches as an example since I already brought up canned peaches.

Hey, Clint, what do you think about some people putting light cottage cheese on their canned peaches?
"These people who are making a big deal about light cottage cheese on canned peaches? I don't give a fuck about putting light cottage cheese on canned peaches! Why not?! We're making a big deal out of things we shouldn't be making a deal out of ... Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want."
See. It works for everything.

But thanks for that "Go Ahead and Make My Gay...Your Husband" line, Clint! Now can you please make up for the fact that you ruined the movie version of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by writing a 10-part movie series based on the life and times of The Lady Chablis starring The Lady Chablis:
